Diana was born in Jerome, Idaho. Her love of the desert began at an early age when her family moved to Moapa Valley in 1964. There she studied art from Max Bunnell, local artist, teacher, and founder of the Moapa Valley Art Guild.
Her father, G. Ray
Newman, was the one who encouraged her to join the Moapa Valley Art
Guild in 1983. That is when she fell in love with drawing portraits in
pencil. In 2007 she started her journey into photography. Since then she
has had success in many competitions. She has taken classes from
professional photographers, and her love for photography continues to
grow. She enjoys taking images of landscapes, people, and learning how
to make her images better. She plans on taking photography classes at
the College of Southern Nevada in the near future.
She and her husband
love to hike, and often take along their children and grandchildren. She
likes capturing images anywhere they travel, but the Desert Southwest is
her favorite. Through photography, she has a way to capture the images
of her beloved desert that she would like others to experience. Red Rock
Canyon, Mount Charleston, and Valley Fire are some of her favorite
places to find images that show why the Desert is a great place to live,
work and play.
Her
work has been shown at Valley of Fire, Red Rock Visitors’ Center, and
has been featured in traveling juried exhibitions at the Clark County
Libraries. She is a member of the Moapa Valley Art Guild and the Nevada
Camera Club.
