Janet Trobough was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest.
A self-taught artist who began with oils in the late sixties, she
started a long professional career in the beauty industry in Portland,
Oregon and later moved to Seattle, Washington. A highlight of her career
was the position of “Artistic Director” in charge of education for a
chain of salons in Portland. Later, she was invited to join a European
design team based in Seattle.
Subsequently, she moved to Seattle and opened her own salon in
the downtown area.
With many artists in her clientele, and still painting in oil,
she filled the walls of her hair salon with art, and had yearly shows
representing her own work as well as her clients’.
In 1998, she decided to pursue her dreams and devote all of her
efforts to art. After moving to Overton, Nevada, she attended Max
Bunnell’s watercolor class at the local community college, and fell in
love with the watercolor media, which is still the main focus of her
work.
She has grown to love the people and beauty of Moapa Valley. The inspiring grandeur of Southern Nevada, together with the petroglyphs and pottery of the Anaxazi, Laguna, Hopi, and Acoma peoples, comprise the many subjects of her paintings
